A sweet and gentle spirit, a sister, aunt and Christian woman, Mrs. Sallie M. Dixon was peacefully called home to glory on Wednesday, October 16, 2019. Born on June 1, 1926 in Thomas County, Georgia to the late Norwood and Lillie Mae Brunner, Sallie was raised in Kissimmee, Florida and lived most of her adult life in Boston, Massachusetts. During her retirement, she moved back to Thomasville, Georgia and resided here for approximately 15 years until her transition. As a young woman, she fell in love with and was joyfully joined in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Thomas M. Dixon who preceded her in death in 1999.
Sallie was a trained and licensed cosmetologist and successful beauty salon owner and operator in Boson Massachusetts for many years. She enjoyed her career of styling and beautifying her customers' hair and formed many lasting friendships among her customers and neighbors over the years. She was a devoted member of the Rising Sun Chpter No. 2 Order of the Eastern Star in Roxbury, Massachusetts. She was also a faithful member of the Concord Baptist Church in Boston and she served diligently in various capacities during her membership. After moving to Thomasville, Sallie attended Rose City Church of Christ under the leadership of Bishop Clay L. Phillips. She was an avid reader and she enjoyed studying her Bible, completing word searches, and solving crossword puzzles.
Sallie leaves to cherish her memory, a loving and devoted brother and sister-in-law, Lewis and Nadren Brunner; and a host of nieces, nephews, and caring friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Rose City Church located at 20785 Highway U.S. North in Thomasville. Interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts on Friday, October 25, 2019.
In lieu of flowers the family request contributions be made to the Rose City Church of Christ in her memory.
Public viewing will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2019 12-7p.m. at the funeral home.
