Mildred Edwards Obituary

Mildred Edwards, 77, of Thomasville passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2023 after a long struggle with Alzheimers.

Millie was born February 9, 1946 to Ruth and Earl Edwards in West Point, GA. She was blessed with one sister, Judy Young who preceded her in death.

After high school, she attended UGA where she received a Masters degree in Education and school Counseling. She continued with a long career in the education field both in Georgia and Florida. She later retired from Orange County Public Schools in Orlando, FL. Millie was know for her unique personality which led to many friendships.

She had a strong faith attending Hand Memorial Methodist Church in Pelham, she volunteered with the Mitchell County Foodbank and Hospice of Southwest Georgia.

She is survived by her nephew, Nick Young (Brandy) and their children Kennedy and Kellen; also a niece Natalie Horner (Ray) and their children, Tripp, Trey and Trenton; all of Tampa, FL and cousins, Martha Mixon and Harvey Edwards both of Pelham and cousins, Kaye Kenlaw and family of Fayetteville, N.C.

At her request she will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hand Memorial Methodist Church in Pelham or the Mitchell County Food Bank.
