Thomasville, GA - Mary Taylor Sparks, 85, of Thomasville, passed away on Wednesday - July 16, 2027 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
She was born on November 18, 1939, in Arkadelphia, AR, to Elgy "Chigger" Taylor and Grace Buck Taylor. Her senior year in high school she was the Homecoming Queen and Editor of the High School Newspaper. She later attended Henderson State College, where she was in the sorority Alpha Sigma Tau in the Alpha Gamma chapter, earning her Associate Degree and going on to serve as an adult education Teacher in New Hampshire. Her passion for teaching and commitment to lifelong learning impacted countless lives. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and educator.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Sparks of Thomasville, GA; daughter, Leslie Sparks Marshall (Bill) of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; and five beloved grandchildren: Tyler Marshall, Cole Marshall (Kastyn), Chelsea Harvey (Chris), Lauren Sparks, and Chance Sparks. She also leaves behind a great-grandson, Grey Harvey, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her son, Steven Dale Sparks; and her brothers, Jim Taylor and J.R. Taylor.
A private graveside service was held at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Saturday - July 19, 2025, with Rev. Chris Harvey officiating.
Mary's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
