Madeira Miller Glenn, 78, of Thomasville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Saturday - March 22, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her family. Born on October 5, 1946, in Pavo, GA, she was the daughter of the late James Luther Miller and Charlie Mae Brice Miller.
A lifelong resident of Thomasville, Madeira was a devoted mother, granny, educator, and faithful member of her community. She dedicated her professional life to education as a school teacher with the Thomas County Board of Education, where she shaped the lives of countless students over the years. Madeira was an Honor Graduate of Brooks County High School and went on to further her education as an Honor Graduate at Thomas University, earning her degree and pouring her passion for learning into every classroom she touched.
She was a devoted member of First Newark Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and teaching Sunday School. Her deep faith was a guiding force throughout her life, and she will be remembered for her compassion, wisdom, and unwavering kindness.
Madeira is survived by her loving daughters, Sonya Godwin of Thomasville, GA, and Sherry Monk (Malvin) of Boston, GA; grandchildren Bridget Sellers, Chasity Johnson (David), and Justin Godwin, all of Thomasville, GA, Heather Wilson (Trace) of Pavo, GA; and Brandon Monk (Taylor) of Valdosta, GA; 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joel Glenn and her brother, James Miller.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 2:00 PM at First Newark Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Steve Brooks. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm in the church Chapel.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Justin Godwin, Brandon Monk, Drew Dotson, Rylan Josey, David Johnson, and Trace Wilson.
Madeira's life was a beautiful example of service, faith, and love. She leaves behind a legacy that will live on in the hearts of her family, students, and all who knew her.
