Thomasville, Georgia - Hilda Faye Delaney, 89, passed away unexpectedly on August 27, 2025, from complications due to recent surgery. Hilda was born to C.C. "Doc" Dunlap and Pearl Lucille Cook on December 31, 1935, in Cairo, Ga. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Gerald Delaney, her youngest son Wesley Ralph Wilford, and a brother William Clower Franklin with whom she was reunited late in her life. Survivors include son Sim Wilford, Jr. and wife Alexandra of Wake Forest, NC, granddaughter Ashley Berry (Sam) of Greenville, SC. grandson Matthew Wilford of Manassa, Va, and great-granddaughter Alice Berry, as well as 6 half-brother and half-sisters. Hilda was raised in Thomasville by her father and mother Dean (Sadler) Dunlap. She attended Thomasville High School where she created many lifelong friendships and was also a cheerleader.

Hilda was a traditional mom for 15 years staying home to raise her two sons and was extremely proud when both became Eagle Scouts. She spent the next 22 years at SafeCo Insurance where she worked as an insurance adjuster.

Upon her Retirement in 1998 Hilda became involved in a Singles group in Atlanta, whose primary focus was hosting monthly Ballroom dancing events and a yearly cruise, serving as President of the group numerous times. This is where her love for travel began.

In 2006, Hilda was reintroduced to Gerald Delaney, an old high school friend, and they subsequently married in 2007, (and she was kicked out of the Singles group). Hilda and Gerald returned to Thomasville where they spent the next 17 years traveling and enjoying good times with family and friends. Hilda was a member of Thomasville First Baptist Church.

Services will be held on Monday, September 1, 2025 at Allen and Allen Funeral Home at 11 am. A visitation will be held from 4-6 pm Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Allen and Allen Funeral Home.
