Funeral services for Harry Eugene Hickey (Gene), 82, of Meigs were held Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 11:00AM at Midway Baptist Church in Meigs where he was a member. Rev. Dennis Norman officiated and interment was held in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Brock Humphries, Dallas Williamson, Ron Williamson, Jesse Hickey, Brian Hickey and Jason Lewis.

Born June 29, 1941 in Thomas County, he was the son of the late Harry Walls and Alene Aldridge Hickey. Mr. Hickey passed away Monday, October 16, 2023 at his residence.

He was a life-long farmer, served over 20 years on the board at Ameris Bank in Thomasville, he was devoted to his family, his church, and his farm and was in the first graduating class of Thomas County Central High School. He was married for 44 years to Karen Barry Hickey of Meigs who survives.

Other survivors include his sons, Ken Hickey (Tina) and Randy Hickey (Bobbie) all of Meigs; grandchildren, Sommer Peel (Kaylee Tissue); Brandon Hickey (Brittany); Robby Hickey (Maddie); great grandchildren Kaleb, Kylie and Kyndall Hickey, Rylea Jean and Daphne Peel and Kingston Davis; and siblings, Linda Williamson and Diane Humphries (Dewain) of Meigs and his canine companion, Little Bit. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Linda Hickey; and a brother, Steve Hickey and a brother-in-law, Freddie Williamson and a sister-in-law Nancy Hickey and Nephew Barry Hickey.

The family received friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 from 6:00-8:00PM.
