Annie Will (Sloan) Miller, born on December 10, 1934, in Camilla, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home in Buford, Georgia, on February 17, 2025.
She was the daughter of the late Hiram and Annie Grace Sloan. On October 18, 1957, she married Vernon Dwight Miller of Cairo, GA with whom she built a loving family.
She is survived by her children, Melanie Rose Peek (Wayne), Melissa Dale Miller (Trish Kennedy), and Delia Anne Chapman (Scott); her grandchildren, Jonathan Peek (Lynn), Bryan Peek, Michael Chapman, Caleb Wellmaker, Timothy Peek, and Brooke Chapman (Chase Bowen); her great-grandchildren Savannah Peek, Ashlynn Chapman, Andrew Peek, Mia Chapman, and Camden Peek; and her siblings Bob Sloan (Toby) of Cairo, Georgia; Joe "Bud" Sloan of Albany, Georgia; and Wendell Sloan (Linda) of Reddick, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Jackie Sherrod, Emogene Vinson, Peggy Hendricks, and Mike Sloan.
Annie grew up in Thomasville, Georgia, where she attended Dawson Street Baptist Church. In 1974, she and her family moved to Lilburn, Georgia. After a brief time in Nashville, Tennessee, she and Dwight settled in Buford. She was a member of Sugar Hill Methodist Church.
Professionally, Annie worked as an X-ray technician in Thomasville at Archibald Hospital before transitioning to medical transcription. She provided transcription services for Dr. Wahl, Dr. Mimms & Dr. Chaney and later worked part-time for Dr. Hecht and Dr. Haber in Dunwoody.
Annie had a deep passion for golf and was an avid competitor. She was a member of Glen Arven Country Club in Thomasville and participated in the Glen Arven Ladies Association, North Georgia Ladies Golf Association, Berkeley Hills Golf Club in Duluth, and the Appalachian Golf Association. She cherished the friendships she made through her life. In recent months she was especially grateful for the friendship and care received from Julie Tapp and Kristin Burgess.
A celebration of life service will be held at Flanigan Funeral Home in Buford. The date and time have not yet been determined. Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. https://www.stjude.org/
