Funeral service for Roberta Palmer Burns will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 22, 2017 at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church 4075 North Marshall Street, Coolidge, Georgia. The Rev. Charles Moore, is officiating minister. Roberta Palmer Burns was born on January 6, 1951 in Clarendon, South Carolina, to the late Seward Palmer Jr. and Eliza Robinson Palmer. Roberta departed her life on April 12, 2017 at John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia. Roberta graduated from Scott Branch High School in Summerton, South Carolina in 1969. Later she moved to North Santee, South Carolina and in 1986 her life led her to Coolidge, Georgia where she was a devoted and loving wife to Robert L. Burns. Roberta was a caregiver to her kids, grandkids and family member until she became sick in her early 40s, which she remained a loving person through it all. Roberta joined New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and became a member of the choir. On April 12, 2017, God stopped by John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital and gave Roberta her wings to fly high. Those left to celebrate her life and remember her love are her brother, Charlie James Palmer of Greenville, South Carolina; sister-in-law, Linda Palmer of Casey, South Carolina; four children, Bernard (Shakeva) Palmer of Jacksonville, Florida, Burgess (Natasha) Palmer, Thomasville, Georgia, Yolanda Palmer of Thomasville, Georgia and Crystal Palmer of Albany, Georgia. She was a devoted grandmother to Nakia Palmer, Sanaa Palmer, Chyna Palmer, Carlanda Parker, Ja'wain Gurley, Destiny Palmer, Curtis Donaldson of Thomasville, Georgia, Amber Crawford of Albany, Georgia, Justin Palmer of Cairo, Georgia and Palmer of Dublin, Georgia. She was blessed with one great-grandson, Isaiah Jackson; other survivors include, a special niece, Melissa Palmer and a special daughter, Stephanie Carr. Her memory will be forever cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is proceeded in death by her sister, Janie L. Palmer and brother, Carl (Will Bill) Palmer.
