Services for Hattie Mae Austin Smith, 92, of Thomasville, are at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Elder Pastor Saul Eady and the Rev. Curnell Henry, pastor of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church will officiate and interment is in Peaceful Rest Cemetery. Pallbearers are Richard Coney Jr., Matthew Coney, Henry Herbert Washington III, Timothy?Lewis, Josiah Coney, Jemell Myles, Al Johnson and Freddie Robinson. Mrs. Smith died April 29 in Tifton. Born July 8, 1924, in Thomas County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late?Lloyd James Austin and Novella Austin. Mrs. Smith was a 1944 graduate of Douglass High School. In 1968, in Thomasville, she married John Henry Smith who preceded her in death. She was a member of Church of God in Christ on Jones Street and retired from Georgia Crate and Basket Co. Survivors include daughters, Deloris Mae Lewis (Robert) of Norfolk, Virginia, Diane B. Virgil (Carlton) of Thomasville, Gloria Jean Washington-Coney (Richard) of Tifton, Barbara Ann Lane of Thomasville, Gwendolyn Armstrong of Albany; brothers, Warren Francis Austin of Rochester, New York, William R. Austin of Thomasville; special nephew, Clifton Austin of Rochester, New York; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; three great-great-great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Rose Harvey?Washington, Carolyn Washington; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a son, Henry Hubert Washington; four brothers, Lloyd James Austin Sr., Clarence R. Austin, Horace C. Austin, Leroy Austin; and a sister, Juanita Ralph. The viewing is from 3 to 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home and from 11 a.m., until the funeral hour Saturday at the church.
