Funeral services for Dorothy Cain will be at 1 p.m., Saturday April 22, 2017 at Good Shepherd Church. Eulogist is Dr. David D. Mitchell. The public viewing will be noon to 7 p.m., Friday, April 21, 2017. Mrs. Dorothy Jeanette Mitchell-Cain was the eldest of nine children. She was born August 23,1944 in Thomasville, Georgia to the late Will Mitchell and Jimmie Lee Mitchell. She graduated from Douglass High School in 1962. She was a lifelong member of The Good Shepherd Word of Deliverance Church in Thomasville, Georgia. In 1962, she met and fell in love with John R. Cain and on November 28, 1962, they were joined in holy matrimony. From this union, they were blessed to have a son John R. Cain Jr. Dorothy started a career as a dietitian. She worked at Harper Elementary, Camellia Gardens Senior Home and Thomasville RYDC. She loved planning meals, spending time talking to the children and encouraging them. She retired from Thomasville RYDC in 2007. Dorothy Cain departed this life April 14, 2017. She is preceded on her journey by her sister, Tericia Ross. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, John R. Cain Sr.; her son and daughter-in-law, John R. Cain Jr. and Beatrice Cain; her granddaughters, Jessica McGuire; goddaughter, Iva Bradshaw; her grandsons, John R. Cain III, Kieran Jones, Kenji Jones, Kavon Jones; five great grandchildren, Johnquez Cain, Jamarion Bradshaw, Mekhi McGuire; her sisters, Harriet McGarrah and her husband Benny McGarrah and Carolyn Lawson; her brothers: Pastor Willie J. Mitchell and his wife Jaqueline Mitchell, Dr. David D. Mitchell and his wife Victoria Mitchell, Jimmie Mitchell and his wife Jennifer Mitchell, Dennis Mitchell and Edward Mitchell and his wife Elsa Mitchell; special friend, Emma G. Lundy and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
