Bennie Mae's Story

Services for Bennie Mae Linton Scott were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 15, 2017, at First Missionary Baptist Church, 110 W. Calhoun St., Thomasville. The Rev. Jeremy Rich, pastor, the Rev. Walter Hadley officiated with interment in Peaceful Rest Cemetery. Mrs. Scott died July 4. She was born March 19, 1946, in Grady County, Georgia to the late Ben (Sr.) and Annie Thomas Linton. She attended Washington Consolidated School in Cairo. At an early age, she confessed Christ, was baptized and joined Mercy Seat Christian Church. She was married to Robert Scott until his death. She worked at the Oklahoma City School System. She was a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church then moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1994. She had a beautiful smile, engaging personality and a unique sense of humor. After having a conversation with her, she would leave you smiling and laughing. She maintained her humor through her illness. During the night of Tuesday, July 4, 2017, God dispatched an angel to bring her home. She was preceded in death by husband, Robert Scott; her daughter, Juana Scott; her parents, Ben (Sr.) and Annie Thomas Linton; and a sister, Georgiann Johnson. Survivors include two sons, Robert Linton and Antonio Scott (Cindy) all of Oklahoma City; four brothers, the Rev. Albert (Sheila)?Linton of Oklahoma City, Edward Linton of Tallahassee, Ben Linton Jr. of Pittsburgh, Walter Linton of Tallahassee; one granddaughter, Stephanie Jenkins; a great-grandson, Jaelyn Jenkins; three sisters, Lessie Sanford of Philadelphia, Doaries (Jerome)?Smith of Thomasville, Virginia Hargrow of Thomasville; two aunts, Leola Brookins of Miami Gardens, Daisy Denson of Valdosta; a stepdaughter, Stephanie Willis-Pelt of Haddock; a devoted friend, Rosetta Heyward; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
