Funeral Services for Beatrice Jean Walden-Small who passed away on July 9, 2017 will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 11:00a.m. at Greater Union First Baptist Church, 240 S. Clara Avenue, DeLand, Florida 32720; Rev. Troy Bradley, Sr. Pastor. Beatrice Jean Walden-Small was born May 13, 1933 in Grady County, Georgia to the late Flemming Walden and Sara Franklin Walden. After high school, she moved to DeLand Florida in 1955 and found work as a trusted domestic worker in the homes of some of DeLand's most respected families where she worked for over four decades as a homemaker, nanny, caterer and personal aide. She joined Greater Union First Baptist Church in 1955 shortly after moving to Florida. She remained a faithful member for over 60 years. She attended regularly until her final few months when her strength denied her will. She served GUFBC in various ministries, including the Garden Club, Usher Board No.2, and as Deaconess and Deaconess Emeritus. In 1964 she was joined in Holy matrimony to the late Deacon Theodore W. Small; they were married for over 45 years. She leaves to cherish precious memories; two daughters, Rosemary Mazerine Santel (Frank) of Westin, FL., Sheri Shree Small of Lakeland, FL.; a son, Theodore Washington Small Jr., of Deland, FL.; granddaughters, Lisa Marie Santel, Paxtyn Jean Small; grandson, Mark Andrew Santel; devoted sister, Irene Leaks of Thomasville, Georgia; faithful sister-in-law, Katherine Small of DeLand, FL.; a host of dearly beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends and neighbors, and many others who cherished her as "Mom Small', or "Grandma Bea". The public viewing will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017 from 4:00p.m.-6:00p.m. at Greater Union First Baptist Church; a wake to follow the viewing from 7:00p.m.-8:00p.m. Interment will be held at DeLand Memorial Gardens.
