Graveside services for Arthur Battle, 77, of Thomasville, are at 11 a.m., June 10, 2017, at Peaceful Rest Cemetery. The Rev. Charles Moore officiating. Pallbearers are Christopher Battle, James Griffin Jr., Arthur Battle III, Damian Ellis and Nathaniel Slater. Mr. Battle died June 4 at his residence. Born Dec. 27, 1939, in Newton,?Georgia, he was the son of the late Arthur Battle and Glady Walden Battle. Employed at Melrose Plantation, he was a member of Midway Baptist Church and a member of Pallbearer Association. Survivors include son and wife, Willie (Benisha)?Spivey of Thomasville; daughter, Betty J. Mills of Thomasville; son, Alfred Battle of Thomasville; daughter and husband, Francis (Walter)?Caldwell of Thomasville; son and wife, Arthur (Patricia) Battle of Camilla; sisters, Josephine Peoples of Ochlocknee, Mother Erma Griffin of Thomasville, Annie P. Ellis of Thomasville, Shirley Williams of Coolidge, Beverly Williams of Coolidge; two brothers, Willie James (Millie)?Battle of Thomasville, Freddy Battle of Fitzgerald; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. The family will receive friends after the services at the Willie Spivey home at Twin Oaks Plantation, 2993 U.S. Hwy. 319 South. Relatives and friends are asked to meet at 10:45 a.m. at Peaceful?Rest Cemetery. The viewing is from 1 until 7 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. Grooms Funeral Home
