Funeral services for Mrs. Wilma Furney of Thomasville,, formerly of Pavo, will be held at the chapel of Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. Interment will follow at Lebanon Cemetery in Pavo. Rev. Johnny Cooper and Harold Thomaston will officiate. She was born August 4, 1922 daughter of the late Fulton and Effie Crosby. She was married to Dick Furney who preceded her in death on November 1, 1988. They had a son Don Furney, who died tragically in an automobile accident on Thanksgiving Day night in 1962. She was prededed in death by her parents, husband, son, and her two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Wright and Louise Crosby. Brothers Fred, Carmine, Clyde, Doyle, Bruce, and Charles Crosby. She is survived by two brothers Alan Crosby of Coolidge, and Bobby Crosby of Defuniak Springs, FL. She was a faithful member of Pavo Baptist Church for 51 years. After moving to Thomasville, she attended Pineland Baptist Church. She loved her Pator Johnny Cooper and wife Darlene Cooper. She lived a long life and very independent. She enjoyed going to Scott Senior Center, being with friends and loved the food and games.
