Thelma Joan  Lewis Clay


Thelma Joan Lewis Clay, 83, of Thomasville, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at Whiddon Shiver Funeral Home on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at 3:00pm with Rev. Lyle Witcher officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 2:00pm - 3:00pm. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Clay was born in Thomas County, GA to the late Luther Jackson Lewis & Thelma Chastain Lewis on March 27, 1936. She married Alvin Eugene Clay, Sr. on March 11, 1956 in Meigs, GA. She worked at Archbold Memorial Hospital as an LPN for 25 years where she retired. She was a member of Pineland Baptist Church. Survivors include: husband, Alvin Clay, Sr., of Thomasville, two sons, Al Clay (Beverly), Phil Clay (Pam) both of Thomasville, grandchildren, Jonathan Clay (Lindsay) of Metcalf, GA, Nicholas Clay (Bowen), Christopher Clay (Katie), Kasey McKenzie (Daniel), Keri Johnson (Jeremy), all of Thomasville, 9 great-grandchildren, a sister, Ellen Sbarra of Thomasville, brothers, Aaron Lewis of Ochlocknee, GA, Donald Lewis (Susan) of Thomasville, and a number of very loved nieces and nephews. Joan's memory will live on in her spirit, so loving , sweet, always Happy, that is what I remember about Joan, she was my 2nd cousin, a beautiful smile , good times together with her & my two sister Ramona & Carolyn , & Ellen also. My Mother was Grace Oneida Carter, Josephine Chastain Carter
