Sarah's Story

Mrs. Sarah Ward-King was born on August 28, 1921 at 11:50 p.m., in Thomas County to the late Charlie and Mary Bryant Ward. She was youngest of fifteen children. Her siblings included Frances, Rhodie, Tommie, Hubert, Violet, illie, Ola, Willie (Charlie Ward, Jr.), Levy, and Alue, Annie, Clara, and stillborn twins boys all whom preceded her in death. Mrs. King was a member of Mount Zion Primitive Baptist Church where she served for many years. As a faithful member, she served on the usher board and hospitality/cooking committee. She was known for her gift of cooking and her ability to recall family history. Mrs. King was also a member of the International Benevolent Society. Mrs. King was united in holy matrimony to the late William King on December 1, 1940. To this union, one child was born. Mrs. King had one grandchild, Willie George Anderson who preceded her in death. Mrs. King leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter Betty Jean Anderson; great-granddaughter, Jamila Horne; and a special niece, Barbara Jean Stephens, as well as, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and devoted neighbors. Viewing will be held on Friday July 14, 2017 at Hadley's Funeral Home from 1 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held Saturday July 15, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church 323 McKinley Street in Thomasville. Elder Jimmy Simmons, pastor, Elder Larry Brown, officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Hwy. 84 East, Thomasville. Family and friends are asked to assemble at 10 a.m. at 324 West Monroe Street in Thomasville for the processional. Hadley's Funeral Home
