Roscoe's Story

Roscoe Graham, 80, was born on November 1, 1936 to the late John Turner and Johnnie B. Elijah in Quitman, Georgia.  Roscoe departed life on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at home with family at his bedside. Roscoe spent several years in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where he was a custodian for Broward County School Board. After retiring, he returned home to Pavo, Georgia where he met and married Mary Etta Hanes in July of 2000 and this is where he remained until he was called to his eternal home on Sunday, August 27, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents; one child, Eleanor P. Graham; three sisters, Ruthie Mae, Nadine, Vennie; and one brother, Junior. Roscoe leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife Mary Etta Graham, eight children, Clarence, Tampa, Florida, Yvonne, California, Michelle Graham, Cecilia Graham, Roscoe Graham Jr., Corby Graham, Raquel Graham, Nicholas Graham all of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; eight loving stepchildren: Helen Thomas(Arthur), Pelham, Georgia, Robert (R.J.) Hanes (Vanessa), Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Lillie French(Ronnie), Moultrie, Georgia, Alice Tripp, Pavo, Georgia, Connie Hanes, Clarksville, Tennessee, Bonnie Caldwell, Pavo, Georgia, Bobby Hanes, Moultrie, Georgia, Peggy Hanes, Murfreesboro, Tennessee; and a host of grandchildren and friends. Special thank you to devoted caretakers Alice, Bonnie, Peggy, Lillie, Kent and Thomasville Hospice. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Greater Newton Grove Baptist Church, Moultrie, Georgia with Pastor Cornelius Ponder III officiating. Burial follows in the Pelham Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Pelham, Georgia. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home, Quitman.
