Reopard Albert "Red" Connell, 83, of Thomasville, Georgia. died Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at Camellia Gardens of Life Care. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Cobb Funeral Chapel in Moultrie with the Rev. Kenneth Kicklighter officiating assisted by the Rev. Matt Greene. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memory Gardens in Moultrie. Casketbearers will be Ed Connell, Jason Vanlandingham, Kevin Vanlandingham, Gerald Suber, Hunter Hupp and Lt. Stephen Dunn. Edwin Hortman, Bill Johnston, Billy Thompson and Bill Suber will serve as honorary casketbearers. Born November 7, 1933, in Moultrie, Georgia, he was the son of the late Wade Connell and Thelma Davis Connell. Mr. Connell was associated with The City of Moultrie, Wright Motor Company and later retired from Moultrie National Bank. He was a member of Kingwood Baptist Church and his family remembers how Mr. Connell was a happy person who loved to socialize and was known to his grandchildren as "Dandy." In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Katherine Connell; and brothers, Paul Connell and James A. "Coon" Connell. Survivors include his wife, Jackie Plymel Connell of Thomasville, Georgia; son, Larry Connell and Natalie of Thomasville, Georgia; daughter, Melanie Connell Dunn and Steve of Bainbridge, Georgia; grandchildren, Lauren Connell, Sarah Dunn and Lt. Stephen Dunn; brother, Herbert Connell and Edna of Moultrie, Georgia; sister-in-law, Raye Jean Connell of Moultrie, Georgia; and other family members.
