Philip Walter Timmermans


Philip W. Timmermans, 82, peacefully departed this life on June 2, 2019 at Poet's Walk Memory Care Community in Warrenton, VA.

Phil grew up in the St. Louis, Missouri area and was very active in the Boy Scout program, reaching the rank of Eagle Scout. He met and married his wife, Ann, while both were students at the University of Missouri, where he received his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Later he received his master's degree in Systems Management from the Air Force Institute of Technology. For 23 years he served his country in the U.S. Air Force, retiring with the rank of Lt. Colonel. After retirement he worked for an additional ten years as a program manager for Lockheed Corporation in Nashua, NH.

Phil and Ann were avid RVers and bought their first motorhome after retirement. They spent nearly four years touring the United States and Canada before selecting Trinity, NC as their retirement home. They remained active in the RV community for many more years.

He and Ann were active members of Memorial United Methodist Church in Thomasville, where he served on the Finance and Evangelism Committees and the Administrative Board. They were also members of the church's 50+ Good Times Club and took an active part in the church's local mission programs. He spent many days in the flooded areas of the state, with other church members, helping repair flood-damaged homes.

In addition to his wife, Phil is survived by his three children, Lynnette, Karen, and Scott. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Ryan, Sean, and Talene, two great-grandchildren, Helenna and Allura, and his sister, Helen.

The funeral service will be held at Moser's Funeral Home in Warrenton, VA on Thursday, June 6 at 9:30 a.m., followed by burial with full military honors at Culpeper National Cemetery in Culpeper, VA.
