Graveside services for Paul James Palmer, of Thomasville, will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday June 11, 2017 in Laurel Hill Cemetery with Pastor Andy Glover officiating. Mr. Palmer passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at his residence. Born in Ochlocknee on January 17, 1930, he was the son of the late Luther Palmer and Rosie Elizabeth Carter Palmer. Mr. Palmer served in the U.S. Army for four years with two being in active duty. He was an electrical contractor and owner of Palmer Electric for 50 years working on numerous buildings in the area and around the state of Georgia. His passion was following the Thomasville High School Bulldog sports teams and for many years he never missed a football game whether it was at home or away. He was also an avid Georgia Bulldog fan spending many Saturdays watching and listening to the games. He was married to Patricia Palmer, who survives. Other survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Woody Sanders; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Jo Palmer; grandchildren, Tina Dubose (Scott), Mike Godwin (Pam), Derek Godwin (Bonnie), Paul Palmer III (Michele), Sarah Ryan (Bobby), William Palmer (Alyssa); 20 great grandchildren; close family, Joan, Chad, Hanna, Sebastian and Robert. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Annie Ruth Owens Palmer. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, prior to the service from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Guests may sign his online register book at www.allenfh.com
