Services for Mrs. Lottie Mae Hunter Hicks, 80, of Thomasville, are Saturday, December 9, 2017, 1 p.m., at Providence Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. E.C. Virgil Sr., pastor, will officiate, with the Rev. Spencer Wilson presiding. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons. Mrs. Hicks passed away on December 1, 2017, at her residence. Born on February 8, 1937, in Thomasville, she was a daughter of the late Jeff Hunter and Lottie Dunbar Hunter. She married the late Nathaniel Hicks on May 3, 1958. Mrs. Hicks worked at Georgia Crate and Basket Co. for seventeen years. She was a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Hicks was the past worthy matron of the Tabitha Chapter OES #31. She also was a member of the American Legion Post 519, past secretary and member of the Rainy Day Club, Internal Benevolent Society #668 and a dedicated board member of the Thomasville Community Resource Center in 2001. Mrs. Hicks attended Pebble Hill School. She is survived by daughter and husband, Majory (Sidney) McKinney, of Thomasville; daughter and husband, Linda F. (Robert) Carter Sr., of Thomasville; daughter, Roxanne A. Smith, of Atlanta; daughter, Esther "Tish" Hicks, of Thomasville; son, Carlton Hunter, of Miami, Florida; sister, Henrietta Crumity, of Miami, Florida; brother, Simon "Pete" Hunter, of Miami, Florida; twenty-two grandchildren; forty-four great-grandchildren; twenty great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Public viewing will be Friday, December 8, 2017, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. The wake is from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 1215 Magnolia St.
