Funeral services for Lillie Clifford Maxwell Powell Tise will be held Saturday, April 15, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 310 4th Avenue S.W., Cairo, Georgia. The Rev. Alexander Mack, pastor, and the Rev. Sylvester Williams, officiating. Interment will be held at Crestview Cemetery, Cairo, Georgia. Active pallbearers are Maurice Montgomery, Debrail Powell, Allen Powell, Jr., Kris Powell, Clifford Powell Jr. and Treavon Powell. Honorary pallbearers are Marcus Powell, Casey McLeod, Vance McLeod Jr., Fred Wilder, Jordon Powell and Tony Barker. Lillie Clifford Maxwell Powell Tise was born to the late Isaiah "Bose" Maxwell and Martha Clifford Walden Maxwell on January 19, 1932. Lillie Clifford, or "Sista", was educated in the Grady County School System. She briefly attended Albany State College in Albany, Georgia. She worked in the Grady County School District as a Teacher's Aide and as a Librarian's Aide for many years. She joined Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, and was a diligent worker on the Usher Board. Survivors include sons, Otis Powell Jr. of Cairo, Georgia, Clifford (Debra) Powell Sr. of Cairo, Georgia, Terrell (Novella) Tise of Cairo, Georgia, Allen (Fannetta) Powell Sr. of Thomasville, Georgia; daughters, Vanessa (Bill) Brown of Cairo, Georgia, Sharon (Vance) McLeod Sr. of Melbourne, Florida; brother, Willie (Lucille) Maxwell of Cairo, Georgia; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren with which she had a special relationship and nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
