Deacon Leroy Donald, Jr. was born in Cairo, Georgia to Pasco and Picola Donald on August 1, 1937. Leroy was the third of ten children born to this union. His parents and his sister, Lillie Tucker preceded him in death. He attended elementary school in Cairo, Georgia until the third grade. With only a third grade education, and no formal training, he started his own successful landscaping and land clearing business, Donald Landscaping and Demolition, of which he was the owner and operator for over 70 years.

On July 6, 1958, Deacon Donald married Alma Jane Elzy. From this union, five children were born; one daughter Sherry Anita, preceded him in death. Deacon Donald always stressed the importance of family and leaves a legacy as a role model, provider, spiritual leader, and pillar of the community. He was a member of True Life Holiness Church where he served as a deacon until his death.

On July 11, 2019, Leroy Donald, Jr. went home to be with the Lord. He will forever be remembered as a true leader and barrier breaker for young entrepreneurs and property owners. He touched the lives of many from ALL walks of life.

Those left to cherish his memories include his faithful wife of 61 years, Alma Jane Elzy Donald; children, Gregory Donald (Jennifer), Tallahassee, Florida; Katrina Donald, Atlanta, Georgia; Leon Donald (Charlotte), Thomasville, Georgia; Eric Donald, Thomasville, Georgia; and Whitney Donald, Thomasville, Georgia; two sisters, Dorothy Smith (Alton), Cairo, Georgia; Martha Carter, Pine Park, Georgia; six brothers, Billy Donald (Priscilla), Pine Park, Georgia; Bobby Joe Donald (Mable), Cairo, Georgia; Minister Willie A. Donald, Cairo, Georgia; Willie Hope, Old Town, Florida; Tyrone Donald, Thomasville, Georgia; and Carl Donald, Texarkana, Texas; ten grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be Sunday, July 21, 2019 at 3:00 p.m., First Baptist Church, 210 North Broad Street, Thomasville, Georgia, with burial at Peaceful Rest Cemetery, N. Pinetree Blvd. Public viewing on Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Hopkins Funeral Home.

Donald Family may God comfort you with His peace at the passing of your loved one.
Though I only met Mr. Donald a few times I am impressed at the legacy of love and diligence he past on to his children.
