Lawrence's Story

Lawrence "Larry" F. King, 83, passed away peacefully Monday, April 24, 2017 at Camellia Gardens in Thomasville, Georgia. Larry was born January 13, 1934 in Valdosta, Georgia to the late Dr. Loomis P. King and Mary Elizabeth King of Greenville, Florida. He graduated from Georgia Military Academy and proudly served in the U.S. Army. After attending Auburn University he enjoyed a career as a pharmacist. Larry was a big Auburn Tiger fan, loved fishing, playing tennis and his many pets. Nothing gave him greater joy than his family. Larry is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Marguerite Annette Mixson King and his three brothers Loomis King, Frank King and Jerry King. He is survived by his loving family, daughters Jeri Ann King of Charlotte, North Carolina; Mary "Happi" Cook (Richard) of Thomasville, Georgia; his beautiful granddaughters, Madison Cook and Camille Cook of Thomasville, Georgia; and his puppy Rosie. The family would like to thank Southern Living for Seniors, Camellia Gardens and Hospice of Southwest Georgia for their kind and loving care for Pop. A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2017 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Madison, Florida, with the Rev. Joe Boyles officiating. Visitation will follow the service at 3 p.m. in the church parish hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Episcopal Church, P.O.
