Funeral services for Joan McKinney are at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 14, 2017, at Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, 232 Mt. Nebo Lane, Pine Park, Ga. The Rev. Kenneth Fleming, pastor, the Rev. Jack Brown Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. On October 2, 2017, the angel of mercy came and received the soul of our beloved Joan McKinney. Joan McKinney was born April 11, 1946, daughter of the late Mr. Bob Sanders and Mrs. Alice C. Sanders. She became a member of Mt. Nebo M.B.Church, Cairo, Ga. She was a committed wife, sister and servant of Almighty God. She attended school in Ochlocknee, Ga. She was united in marriage to the late G.S. McKinney. She leaves to cherish her memories, three sons, Jerome Sanders of Thomasville, Ga., Anthony (Ernestine) McKinney of Atlanta, Ga. and Erin Ingram of Thomasville, Ga.; one daughter, Ava McKinney of Thomasville, Ga., whom she loved dearly; five brothers, Ernest (Hattie) Sanders, Sr., Thomasville, Ga., Ben Sanders of Titusville, Fl., and Raymond Sanders of Thomasville, Ga.; three sisters, Janie Mae Sanders of West Palm Beach, Fl., Ada (John) Willis of Cairo, Ga and Evelyn (Larry) Gulley of Clearwater, Fl; a special aunt, Lillie Brown of Thomasville, Ga.; grandchildren, Shaunta Lamons, Natasha Dukes, Darius (Daniel) Fontenot, Joseph (Sharee) McKinney and Alexander
McKinney; great-grandchildren, Za'Miah Wright, James Dukes, Ma'Laisha Dukes, Harmony Butler and Bella Fontenot; God child, De'Mariah Lovett; special friends, Jean Bradley and Mamie Tims, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and friends. Two brothers preceded her in death, Sherman (Pete) Sanders, Sr., and David Sanders, Sr. Family and friends are asked to assemble at 10 a.m., at 400 Grady St., Thomasville, for the processional.
