Funeral services for Jean Scott, 86, of Cairo, Georgia, are at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church, Cairo, Georgia. The Rev. Whit Byram and the Rev. Rob Cronin will officiate. Services will conclude at the church. Private interment will be in the Concord Cemetery, Concord, Florida. Active pallbearers will be Shaun Bruton, Stuart Dalton, Clay Dalton, Hunter Dalton, Tim VanLandingham, Walter VanLandingham, Mark VanLandingham and Daniel VanLandingham. Mrs. Scott passed away at Magnolia Place of Cairo, Georgia, on Sunday, May 28, 2017. Mrs. Scott was born on April 13, 1931, in Cairo, Georgia, to the late John Edward (J.E.) VanLandingham and Ruth Lane VanLandingham. She married Joe Scott on November 21, 1952, and he preceded her in death on October 14, 1999. She retired as an administrative assistant from the State of Florida General Services. Jean and her husband attended and served at the Concordia Baptist Church in Concord, Florida, for many years when the girls were growing up. She later joined the First United Methodist Church in Cairo. Survivors include daughters, JoAnn Bruton (Allen) of Havana, Florida, Beverly Dalton (Donald) of Calvary, Georgia; grandchildren, Shaun Bruton of Havana, Florida, Kristin Bruton of Havana, Florida, Stuart Dalton (Nichole) of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Clay Dalton of Calvary, Georgia, Hunter Dalton of Calvary, Georgia; sister, Christine Voyles of Cairo, Georgia; sister-in-law, Barbara VanLandingham of Cairo, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, John Walter VanLandingham Sr.; and a sister, Charlotte Schaap. The family will receive friends at the Cairo First United Methodist Church on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, from 10 until 11 a.m. Guests may sign the online register at www.clarkfuneral.com.
