Funeral services for James Reneau Thompson will be at 3 pm, Friday, October 6th at Thomasville First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Ochlocknee City Cemetery. Reverend James Sapp and Reverend Ronnie Wills will officiate. Mr. Thompson of Ochlocknee, GA passed away surrounded by family and friends on October 4, 2017 at home. Jim Thompson was born on November 17, 1954 to the late John Wayland Thompson and Jeraldine Bulloch Thompson. Jim Thompson graduated from Ravenwood in 1973, and graduated from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. He married the love of his life in September of 1976. They shared 41 years of marriage never living far from the Ochlocknee farm. He was a farmer and relationship builder of the first class. He was a life long member of the Methodist Church and spent his days seeking and praying for the will of God. Jim Thompson is preceded in death by his parents, Wayland and Jerry; sister Carolyn Rebecca and an infant brother. He is survived by his loving wife Paula Smith Thompson. He is also survived by his three children: Ginger Marie Funderburk (Alex McLeod), Jamie Thompson (Lindsay), and Kelly Thompson. Jim has four grandchildren who loved him dearly. Paul and Emma Funderburk, and Daniel and Ethan Thompson. He is survived by his brother John W. Thompson (Jeanne), sister Suzanne Anderson (Jimmy), and brother Russell A. Thompson (Margaret). Pallbearers for the service will be Mat Thompson, Waye Thompson, Hunter Rogers, Dallas Burns, Jonathan Spence, and Jesse Holley. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Bulloch, Ken Stanaland, Herbert Cooper, Ronnie Herring, Pat McNeill, Jeff Crosby, Jeff Powell, and Greg Hamil. There will be no formal visitation. The family will receive visitors at the Thompson home in Ochlocknee. There will be a viewing 30 minutes prior to the service.
