Services for James Franklin "Jimmy" Freeman, 75 of Barwick, are at 11 a.m., Friday June 2, 2017 at Barwick Baptist Church. The Rev. Lester Allen and the Rev. Glen Scoggin will officiate and interment is in Rosewood Cemetery. Mr. Freeman died Monday May 29, 2017 in Port St. Joe, Florida. Born March 26, 1942 in Brooks County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Jack Leland Freeman and Florine Inez McAllister Freeman. On September 11, 1966, at Barwick Baptist Church, he married Brenda Joyce Allen Freeman of Barwick. He served in the U.S. Army Vietnam Conflict. He was a self employed farmer and member of Barwick Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 32 years. He served as a director at Grady EMC for over 32 years. During this time he served as a Director Representative of CoBank and National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). Survivors include his wife, Joyce Freeman of Barwick, son, Tim Freeman (Tammy) of Barwick, daughter, Teresa Shoup (Brian) of Barwick, grandson, Blake Freeman (Natalie) of Thomasville; granddaughters, Keri Miller of Barwick, Courtney Cannon (Ben) of Barwick, Kayla & Kelsie Shoup of Barwick, six great-grandchildren; and sisters Helen Allen (Lester) of Barwick and Jackie Horton (Rick) of Thomasville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Freeman, and grandson Jamie Freeman. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 1, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home.
