George's Story

George Alexander Hopkins was born February 15, 1955 in the Spring Hill Community of Thomasville, Georgia to the late A.J. Hopkins Sr. and Annie Bell Hopkins.
Mr. Hopkins joined the Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Rev. A.B. Sanders.
He graduated from Central High School in 1973. His educational endeavors continued at Georgia Southern College, where he received, in 1977, a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.
George began his professional career as an assistant manager and then became manager of produce. He later started his own business selling vegetables and working with others in their business. He loved helping others. George has been portrayed as kind and having a giving heart. Mr. Hopkins enjoyed fishing and cooking. Family and friends will miss his southern cuisine.
Mr. Hopkins departed this life on October 11, 2017. Left to cherish his memories are a loving and devoted family: 2 sisters, Mary (Hopkins) Gardenhire and Carolyn (Hopkins) Wiggins, both of Hephzibah GA; 3 brothers, A. J. Hopkins, Jr. (Marjann), Ricky Hopkins, and Samuel Hopkins (Charlene), all of Thomasville GA; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins; and cherished friends, to include Mike, Susan, Corey, Scott and Jessica Barwick, Marty Edwards, Clem Nelms, and the Mary Mitchell family.
Mr. Hopkins was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Bell Hopkins; and his father A. J. Hopkins Sr.
Viewing was Friday, October 20, 2017 from 1-8 p.m. at Hadley's Funeral Home.The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-7 p.m.. Funeral services will be Saturday October 21, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Springhill M.B. Church, 4293 Hall Road, Thomasville, Ga., Rev. Justin Johnson, pastor. Rev. Harold Hopkins and Rev. Emory Hopkins both officiating. Burial will follow in the Springhill Church Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to assemble at 1 p.m. for the processional at 3632 Hall Road, Thomasville, Ga.
