Evelyn Ruth Jackson Layfield, 95, of Boston, died April 18, 2017 at her residence. No services have been planned. Born April 11, 1922 in Boston, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late John Holland and Gladys Inez Hatcher Holand. She attended Boston High School. She married William Clyde Jackson, who preceded her on January 6, 1987, in Madison, Florida. She was then married, in Cairo, to Charles A. Layfield who preceded her in death in 1989. She was a homemaker and a clerk for J.C. Penney Company, and worked in the office of Southwestern State Hospital before her retirement. She was a member of First Baptist Church Thomasville. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Jackson Juarez (Marcelino) of Boston; daughter, Deryle Jackson Glisson of Calvary; son, John Wayne Jackson and close friend Carol Love of Boston; daughter and son-in-law, Mitzie Jackson Hubbard (Gerry) of Thomasville; 14 grandchildren; 26 greatgrandchildren (and one on the way); 13 great-great-grandchildren; her dog, Skeeter; stepsons, Charles Layfield Jr. of Nashville, Tennessee and Hill Layfield of Kennesaw. She was preceded in death by her son, William Clyde Jackson Jr.; and son-in-law, Marle Glisson.
