Elizabeth Jackson Elizabeth Harris Jackson was born April 20, 1944 to the late Ernest Harris Sr. and Emma Harris. Betty as she was affectionately called was known for her delicious home-cooked meals, going to yard sales and Goodwill with her daughters, and attending church on Sundays. She served on numerous boards. She was secretary of the C.M.E. quarterly conference. She also was a member of the Tabitha Eastern Star Lodge #31. She attended Douglas High school, where she later graduated in 1964. Betty furthered her education at Thomasville Technical College (Southwest Georgia Tech) where she majored in Nursing. She later accepted the position at the Thomas and Grady Service Center as an instructor for the mentally disabled; after 36 years she retired. She enjoyed the love of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty, was a member of the Bethlehem C.M.E. Church for numerous of years. She was married to the late Arthur Eugene Jackson who preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn the father of her children, Mr. Willy Johnson, daughter Tammy Harris, (son) Tony Harris (Kim); (daughter) Lisa Austin, 1 sister Blanche Harris, 3 brothers David Harris Sr. Rufus Harris (Monica), William Harris (Andretta). She was preceded in death by, two brothers Ernest Harris Jr. (Rea), Henry Harris (Gladys), and 1 sister Rosa Harris. She leaves to mourn 10 grandchildren, Quinton Harris, Lynedra Brooks (Akeem), Joshua Harris, Brittney Bell, Christopher Ford, Talmadge (Toby) Austin III, Aerial Harris, Jeremy Austin, Equavion Kimmons, Chanel (Bre) Austin. She also leaves to mourn 9 great-grandchildren Jayden Isom, Elijah Harris, Caleb Kimmons, Ka-lonni Kimmons, Kaydence Austin, Journiee Austin, Evan Wynn, Jayla Brooks, and AJ Thomas. Lastly, a very special and devoted niece Sharon Monroe (Mike), a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends Ms. Katrina Nixon, Ms. Betty Sawyer, and Mrs. Carmen Lanter. Viewing will be Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Hadley's Funeral Home from 1PM-6PM. The funeral service will commence Sunday, November 19, 2017 at 2:30PM at New Jerusalem M.B. Church at 435 S. Stevens Street in Thomasville, Ga., Rev. E.H. Hopkins, interim pastor. Rev. Gary Sanders, officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery on Cone Road in Thomas County. Family and friends are asked to assemble at 313 Peach Street in Thomasville at 1:30PM for the processional.
