Dennis Lauvaughn Atkinson, age 61, of Tallahassee passed away Saturday August 12, 2017 in Tallahassee, Florida. Dennis was born in Pavo, Georgia on February 24, 1956, to the late John William Atkinson and Emily Clara Owens Atkinson. He worked as Plantation Manager for Welaunee Plantation. Dennis was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors and tending to his horses and cows, he loved to dance and never met a stranger.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Atkinson of Tallahassee, Florida; his sister Carol Ellerbe (Dale) of Monticello, Florida; his sister-in-law Rita Atkinson of Monticello, Florida; his son, Buck Dennis Atkinson, Jr. (Kim); his son, James Houck; his son, John Houck (Tiffany); his son, Jacob Atkinson; his son, James Atkinson Jr. and his daughter, Christina Danelle; Dennis also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, a large loving family and many friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the Beggs Funeral Home, Monticello Chapel. A visitation will be held on Tuesday August 15, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home, 485 E. Dogwood St. Monticello, Florida.
