Services for Deacon Fred Williams, 65, of Thomasville, are at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at First Unity Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Charlie Ross, pastor and the eulogist, the Rev. Dr. Leon Jones presiding and interment is in Friendship Church Cemetery in Metcalfe, Georgia. Pallbearers are nephews. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Thomasville High School Class of 1971. Mr. Williams died Sept. 2 at his residence. Born Oct. 14, 1951, in Thomasville, he was the son of the late Frank Murray and Helen Williams Stringer. He was a 1971 graduate of Thomasville High School. On June 14, 1997, in Thomasville, he married Linda Anderson. He was a member of First Unity Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Linda Anderson Williams of Thomasville; daughter, Latoya Williams of Tallahassee, Florida; grandson, DaKyhia Anderson of Tallahassee, Florida; nephew he raised as a son, Shawn (Victoria) Anderson of Tampa, Florida; niece he raised as a daughter, Me'Chelle Anderson of Thomasville; brothers, the Rev. Glenn Stringer of Thomasville, Georgia, Mydria Stringer Jr. of Alamo, Georgia; sisters, Patricia Newsome of Thomasville, Georgia, Keesha Brown Cox of Tallahassee, Florida; aunts and uncles, Maretta (Herman) Hadley of Thomasville, Georgia, Glady (Leon) Mitchell of Columbus, Georgia; brother-in-law, Michael (Toni) Anderson of Thomasville, Georgia; a special cousin-in-law, Freddie Mae Surratt of Tampa, Florida three great-granddaughters; great-niece; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and a wonderful caretaker, Robert Ford. The viewing is from 1 to 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 8 at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until funeral hour at the church with no viewing after the eulogy. The family will receive friends after the services at First Unity Church annex. Relatives and friends are asked to meet at 10:45 a.m., Saturday at 106 Mildred Lane for the procession.
