David Allen Herring, of Columbia Missouri, passed away peacefully in his home on August 14, 2017. Formerly of Boston, Georgia, he was born August 13, 1961 in Thomasville, Georgia. David graduated high school in 1979 from Thomas County Central, where he was an active member of the Yellow Jackets Marching Band. He took his love of music from an early age and built upon it. David was a mastered guitarist and enjoyed entertaining others and teaching music. He loved being from Boston, Ga. and always spoke highly of his time with his "Boston Boys" Welby, Gordy, Coolbreeze, Boo and others. He was the son of the late George A. Herring and Paula Anderson Knapp and husband Al, of Volcan, Panama. He is survived by daughter, Kelly Smith of Thomasville; grandsons, Eli and Jace; brothers, George Paul Herring of Atlanta, Anthony (Tony) Herring and wife Sabine of Boston, Joseph Woody Herring and wife Alacia of Thomasville, Mitchell J. Herring and wife Kayce of Boston; and a sister, Cathy Herring Moates and Mike of Maryville, Tennessee. A memorial will be planned at a later date.
