Charles M. Winchester Sr. passed away December 11, 2017 at his sons home on Winchester Lane in Thomasville, Ga. He was born November 12, 1934 in Tallahassee, FL as the son of Dallas Strange Winchester and Lillian Patricia Janes Winchester. He grew up around Florida and proudly served his country in the Korean War in the service of the United States Army Special Forces. After his military service, he returned home to Tallahassee and married Jacqueline Jackie Antoinette Turner. They decided to make Thomasville, Ga their home and raise a family. Charles began selling insurance for a short time, but settled his career as the Service Manager for Ponders Office City. He enjoyed creating things out of wood and helping Jackie build and teach. Charles was known to be able to build anything Jackie could dream up. He also transported the children of Thomas County as a school bus driver for 43 years. He enjoyed his friends and family down at the local Hardees in later years where he could keep current on events happening around Thomasville. He is survived by his only child, Charles Winchester Jr, grandchildren Daniel Winchester and Justin Stuckey, niece Debbie Rackley, and nephews Bob Stivender and Ryan Turner. Charles had requested no services be held, but the family will be receiving visitors at Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home located at 10451 US Hwy 84 East in Thomasville, Ga on Thursday December 14th from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Charles will be laid to rest next to his beloved Jackie in Medart, FL. The family has asked that all donations and memorials be made to Hospice of Southwest Ga.
