Funeral services for Deacon Calvin C. Hunter, 79 of Whigham, Georgia will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday October 6, 2018 at Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Lonzy Harrison will officiate and interment in Allen Chapel Church Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers are the Deacons of Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church and St. Thomas Masonic Lodge #37.

Calvin Coolidge Hunter transitioned into eternal rest Tuesday October 2, 2018. He was the fifth of twelve children born to the union of Deacon Peter R. Hunter Jr. and Sister Eather Cornell Hunter on Thursday, May 11, 1939.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, a son (Gary Butler), siblings: Willie James Hunter, Peter R. Hunter III, J.D Hunter, Verdell Skinner, Bennie Hunter Sr., and Lennis Hunter Sr., along with Deacon Charles and Emma Lee Hurst, his father and mother in-law.
Deacon Calvin C. Hunter accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at St. Paul M.B. Church in Whigham, GA under the leadership of Reverend Cooper. In 1964, the Hunter Family united with Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist where Deacon Hunter served faithfully under three pastors. On June 18, 2006 Calvin was ordained as a Deacon. In addition to serving as a Deacon, he was active in the choir and a vocalist with Last Chance Male Choir. He also served as President of Allen Chapel and St. Peters Pallbearers Association in Grady County Georgia. CC was an active member in the St. Thomas Masonic Lodge #37 Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite Masons.

Calvin C. was educated in the Grady County School System. He was employed with Roddenberry Pickle Company for approximately ten years and with Torrington Company for approximately thirteen years. After twenty-three years working as a machinist, he returned to his passion of farming. M

On Saturday, September 23, 1961, Calv, was united in wedlock to Mary Alice Hurst-Hunter. They recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. Their union was fruitful and produced four children. He will forever hold a special place in the hearts and minds of his wife, Mary Alice Hunter, Whigham GA; and their offspring: Forrest Leon (Sabrina) Hunter, Belleville, IL; Constance LaFay Hunter-Stewart, Clinton, NC; Casie Lazar (Duchess) Hunter, Perry GA and Arttrell Y-Yeima Hunter, Warner Robins, GA. His crown, his grandchildren: Octavius, Alfred, Clara DeShante, Forrest Channing, Lazar Donovan, Abril Noel, Noni Elon, and Casey Dalton. His remaining siblings: Dr. Curtis T.L (Georgia) Hunter, Ellerslie, GA; Narrest Gadson, Tallahassee, FL; Jahazel Shepherd, Albany, GA; Rose E. (Dr. Sylvester) McRae and Dr. Lorenzo Hunter, Wilmington, OH. His brother and sister in-laws: Mary Lee Hunter, Whigham GA; Willa Hunter, Whigham, GA; Emma Jean Hunter, Albany, GA; Charles Hurst Jr., Baconton, GA; Annie Lois (Keith) Smith, Westbury, NY; Ernest (Clara) Hurst, Camilla, GA; Willie Mack (Joyce) Hurst, Hopeful, GA; Marvin Hurst, Camilla, GA; Bruce Hurst, Camilla GA; Ted Hurst, Rochelle, GA; Shedrick (Catherine) Hurst, Fowlstown, GA; Tony (Erica) Hurst, Bainbridge, GA; Doreatha Pratt, Miami FL; Gwenette Mobley, Memphis, TN; Rose Smith, Camilla, GA. He also leaves a plethora of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who celebrate his legacy.
