Events

On March 27, 2019, God called home a giant -- Adam John Hopkins Jr., widely known as "AJ," and, affectionately known as, "BIG HOP," was born to the late Adam (Bill) Hopkins Sr. and the late Annie Bell Sadler Hopkins on January 30, 1953 in Thomasville, Georgia. He was educated in the Thomas County School system. AJ was married to Marjann Wyche Hopkins and they raised four children: Dr. Cherie Ameyaw (Samuel); Judge Tangela Barrie (Dr. Mahmoud); Adam John Hopkins, III (fiancГ©: Patrice) and Tunisha Hopkins (fiancГ©: Talia). He has nine (9) grandchildren: Jared, Shekku, Naseem, Abdul, Adam IV, Amir, Skye, Aydin Adam and Asantewaa Marjann; and (2) two grandchildren of honor: Chylei and Zhuri. His siblings are Maryann Gardenhire, Caroline Wiggins, Samuel Hopkins and Ricky Hopkins. As well, he leaves to mourn a host of other relatives.
Adam was a community leader and business owner. He previously owned Hopkins Home Center, Hopkins Music Center, the Globe newspaper, Hopkins Game Room, and ProSounds Audio.
Adam's funeral services will begin at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the Thomas County Board of Education Auditorium (Old Central High School Auditorium) located at 200 N. Pinetree Blvd. Hopkins Mortuary will provide services. He will be laid to rest at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church cemetery and the Repast will be at the Hopkins Fellowship Center, 1205 Crowley Road.
